Coensys Simulation Contest and PrizeGeneral InformationCoensys is pleased to announce an annual simulation contest and an associated prize to promote the education of Agent Based Modeling (ABM) and Multi-paradigm modeling using Anylogic. Download the ENTRY FORM here. The winner of the contest will get a prize of $1000.00. This prize will be awarded to students, researchers, and faculty for innovative models developed using Anylogic 6 software. Modelers are encouraged to take advantage of Anylogic's multi-paradigm capabilities. There is no submission fee. You can utilize a free evaluation version of Anylogic to develop your models (Please note that the evaluation version is time limited to 15 days). Request a free evaluation version at: http://www.coensys.com/download.asp This document describes the submission steps and rules for the prize below. Model Submission:1. Create a zip file containing a. All model files including model file (.alp), source and any data files. b. Model documentation (Powerpoint and/or Word document). c. Completed and signed Entry Form. The signed entry form should be scanned and emailed with the submission. 2. Run a virus check on all files. 3. Email the zip file to contest@coensys.com .
Model Evaluation Criteria (Descending order of importance):1. Model should show an interesting result or insight into a problem. 2. Model should be visually appealing. 3. Model should be well documented both in the model files as well as in the supporting presentation/documentation. 4. Models can be in any modeling paradigm, but hybrid models will be given higher ratings. RULES and TERMS1.
The submitted model should be
original work. Authors are responsible for the content of the model and to make
sure that you do not violate someone else’s copyrights or infringe on someone
else’s rights. 2.
All the model content and
documentation must be in English. Models should be developed using Anylogic
version 6.x.x. 3.
The submitted model should not
require any 3rd party licenses. Incorporation of open source software
in the model is permitted. 4.
Model should be in running form and
free of any errors. Model should be free of any viruses, malware, and adware. 5.
A signed and completed entry form
is required. By signing the form, you agree to all the rules and requirements
listed in this document. 6.
All contact information should be
accurate. It is our policy to not sell any information that you provide. If your
model is selected for the prize, your name and organization will be mentioned in
our website and/or press releases. 7.
Entries can be by an individual or
a team of people. It will be the responsibility of the primary contact to
determine how to distribute the prize. It is the primary contact’s
responsibility to abide by your organization’s policies and rules in this
matter. Any violation will result in disqualification. An individual can be part
of many teams. Award winners are responsible for payments of any applicable
taxes. 8.
All information submitted (except
your contact information) will become the property of Coensys, Inc. at the time
of submission regardless of whether the entry wins the prize or not or is
disqualified. Coensys can use this information in any way it chooses. 9.
By submitting an entry each
Participant grants to Coensys (including its affiliates and subsidiaries,
employees, agents, and contractors), and any testing partners, an irrevocable,
royalty free, fully paid up, worldwide non-exclusive license under the
Participants’ copyrights, patents or other intellectual property rights to
use, review, assess, test and otherwise analyze the submissions (models,
algorithm descriptions, and source code) and all their content in connection
with this Contest. In addition, Participants waive on an irrevocable basis all
moral rights in the submissions and all their content. Coensys shall be free to
use for any purpose in any and all media now known or hereinafter developed in
any territory in perpetuity the residuals resulting from access to or work with
Participants’ Applications. The term "residuals" means information
in intangible form, which is retained in memory by persons who have had access
to the submissions, including ideas, concepts, know-how, or techniques contained
therein. Coensys shall not have any obligation to limit or restrict the
assignment of such persons or to pay royalties for any work resulting from the
use of residuals. 10.
Contest is open to anyone who is a
student, researcher, faculty or an independent, anywhere (except certain
countries listed below). We can deny your submission or withhold the prize if we
determine that it goes against any applicable laws of 11.

This contest and prizes can be
discontinued at any time at our discretion. Only one prize will be awarded each
year. Failure to follow any rules/terms in this document will result in
disqualification. 13.
Current and former employees,
contractors and agents of Coensys, together with members of their immediate
families (parent, child, sibling and spouse) and those living in their same
households, are ineligible to enter and participate in the Contest or be awarded
this Prize. 14.
Qualified entries will be judged by
Coensys personnel and selected judges. The judges’ decision will be final. The
prize decision will be made at the sole discretion of the judges. 15.
Coensys will not be responsible for
any expenses incurred in model development or for participation of this contest.
Award money will be moved to the following year if no suitable entry is found in
a specific year of the contest. 16.
Coensys reserves the right to
change or interpret the Rules or official Contest communications and any element
or elements arising under or relating to the Contest at any time.
